Cars in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were alerted by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior official said the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
